I feel like this remarkable moment in early 00s pop requires independent appraisal. Personally I love everything about it. The Des'ree-esque rhyme scheme, the utterly ludicrous video, the fact that it basically predicted the global financial crisis of 2008...

I'd be at one of her 2018 tour dates in a heartbeat if I thought for one moment she'd ever acknowledge recording it.

It is UTTERLY RIDICULOUS. But also rather fabulous at the same time. Only OUR EILEEN (no not that one) could get away with something like that at the time.
 
Beyond ridiculous. Up! really was such a parody album after she saw what hit the mark during the Come On Over campaign.
 
This reminds me of a time where artists were AWARE of what could do well in the US but could get away releasing some WTF stuff in the UK/Europe while they would go for something more "safe" for the yanks.

What is MOST OF IT about? I mean the first half is ok, everyone got raptured because of credit cards, or they just all went to the casino? Then the cleaning lady is rich so she went back to work, and the phone might have been reconnected(?) and she DIES BY SNAKE!

No, I don't know...
 
I was thinking the rock star bits with the triangular guitars, she was parodying super rich musicians of the day.

But she used to wear shit like that all the time, was that just supposed to be the "actual Shania" scene?!

Does she not acknowledge this in her live shows then? :D I would have thought it would fit in to her Vegas shows

Setlist.fm suggests that she has played it twice since 2004, both times when she was foolish enough to include a ‘fan’s choice’ section in the gig.
 
Oh the !!! era :D

Story time : when the albums leaked, I was mostly getting my files from IRC service and it was amazing seeing tons of people posting in the chat IS THIS RED, BLUE OR GREEN! TAG CORRECTLY!
 
I still have NIGHTMARES from the BLUE version! I remember buying the green + red version and it included a code to download the blue version; needless to say, I stopped at track #3 because frankly I didn't want to waste my bandwidth and it was an awful piece of music omg.
