This one is OK. Never quite got the love for it.

So Good, Never Again and Nothing Good About This Goodbye are all utter ten moments, mind.

Not bothered about Rachel Stevens, but this topic is going to send me down a Bad Haircut/Nothing Good About This Goodbye/Still Standing spiral again.

Yesterday did make me think I’d have to dig out Cocoon for the first time in FOREVER.

Did she ever get famous? By god, she tried everything...

I think I found her on twitter or instagram recently. She does something else now... can't remember.

And yes Cocoon is gorgeous. I've got the proper album on CD (was it ever released properly though?) and also a promo sampler I think... shame she never went anywhere.

The promo album in the sparkly cardboard sleeve?

I believe 90% of all copies that didn't go to landfill are in the possession of a current or ex moopy member.

In fact, we ought to include it on the next moopy scavenger hunt.

The promo album in the sparkly cardboard sleeve?

Yep - 11 tracks with proper lovely artwork and liner notes etc.

I've also got a 5-track CD (jewel case) sampler which has Bad Haircut, Heart Over Mind, Why Me Why Now, Stay Until Summer and Strike A Light on it which I can only assume was a sampler type thing.

Can't even remember how/when I got them :D

Also why did 'Addicted' and 'Coming On Strong' not make the Cocoon tracklist? They were both fantastic. Presumably they'd been given to someone else?

They were from her first album sessions and then she was dropped. Xenomania produced and so one presumes they kept the rights. I never did get hold of that first sampler.

Cocoon was never released properly, which is a shame because it’s top notch. There were loads of promos of different lengths- a 10 track AND an 11 track if I remember, plus that sampler.

This podcast with Hannah Robinson has lots of amusing Raquel Stevens stories

May contain CRITIQUE of Geru Halli-Horner for those of a sensitive disposition

Yes I loved this, Hannah seems to be absolute joy. Good to hear that she has been working with Sophie quite a bit too.

I was pleased as punch when they finally released her albums on US iTunes :D

Why does the Geru bit about the Whopper song doesn't sound made up at all? I genuinely would believe it from an early 00's Geru tbh.

I miss shameless embarrassing fun 00's Geru

A much better incarnation than the shameless embarrassing Tory Geru

If I ever win the lottery, one of my first acts will be to fund a star studded feature-length movie about the Some Girls/Me Plus One fiasco. It’s my Roman empire.

Now that we've successfully turned the Beyonce thread into the Rachel Stevens thread, then conquered the Rachel Stevens discussion in the name of Geru, can someone please start talking about Des'ree in the Congrats Dr Geru epic?

God love her, but if this interview is anything to go by, I can only imagine what a gripping page turner the book is going to be :eyes:

I voted this a 5 which now feels SO harsh :D

Gave it an upgrade to a 7 :disco:

"hey. stop. you made a promise to make me a star :)"

These “highlights” of the book posted elsewhere seem to suggest the TOME is probably as thrilling as a Mary Berry recipe book and much less useful.

- She was seemingly bullied from young age, everywhere she went. This has essentially made her guarded.
- Emphasis on how she looked was somewhat imposed on her from a young age by family.
- Family not very open, rocky relationship with her father after he left (in repair now).
- Suffers with anxiety and perfectionism, terrified to get things wrong.
- Has been diagnosed with PTSD after a mugging where she was pinned to the ground outside her flat and had her jewellery ripped off her person while other men robbed her flat. In the same few weeks, she was a bystander in a shooting at a restaurant.
- Tells the story of how Mike Rose and his production partner found her at Sony's canteen, she was Lolly but Simon Fuller offered her a place in S Club after hearing her "Telephone Boy" recording.
- Didn't question her record contract ending after "Come and Get It".
- Seemed to enjoy the doing live cabaret stuff that was cut short cause of COVID.
- Stays in relationships too long out of fear.
- Felt like an imposer during S Club cause everyone else had experience and training she didn't have. Felt like she had lots to say during S Club interviews etc but was frightened she'd say the wrong thing.

There's an AI Geri version of Some Girls doing the rounds on twitter. I listened the other day, It was horrible.
